Finding A CNA Study Guide For Your Needs
By Kaz Thompson
It may seem like a daunting task to try and find a good source of material for your CNA exam, but there are a slew of really good study guides out there that you can easily get your hand on to help you study for your certification and be on your way to becoming a certified nursing assistant.
A good place to start searching for a good CNA study guide is by talking to your CNA course professor. These trained instructors have typically been teaching students to become certified nursing assistants for a number of years and have therefore seen their fair share of the different study guides out there. More importantly they have been both digesting those study guides as well as hearing other people's opinions on them. This type of feedback has made the professors an excellent sounding board for what study guides really do seem to work for students and which ones are basically just a waste of money.
Ask the instructor not only which study guide they would recommend but also why hey recommend it. They may be telling you to go with one in particular just because the curriculum tells them to, or they may be basing it on years of both positive and negative feedback from students that they have taught. You will want to put some serious weight onto the latter type of recommendations when they tell you about them.
You CNA also go on line and do a simple Google search for reviews on certain CNA study guides. These reviews will generally be written by other students trying to obtain their certified nursing assistant certification as well as professors in the field. By reading through these reviews, you should be able to get a good idea on which ones seem to make a positive impact on those who use them and the ones that just seem frivolous.
Searching on line also gives you a chance to do some price shopping while reading through the reviews; essentially killing two birds with one stone. This is a casual occurrence though because once you do decide on a CNA study guide that you think is right for you, you will still want to go back and hunt for the best price out there. Still, you get to start making a connection of the price points that the different stuffy guides are being offered at and that's helpful.
