Most home health agencies in Colorado require home health aides to be certified nurse aides. Home health aides in Colorado whose employers get Medicare funds, must successfully pass a test. The home health aide training programs for this exam vary in length, but the federal law suggests that the classes include at least 75 hours of combined classroom instruction and practical training, which is supervised by a registered nurse.
The home health aide training in Colorado teaches the skills which are required of many unlicensed assistive personnel practicing under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. The classes generally include lecture, laboratory skill with demonstration and return demonstration, and a clinical experience in a health care environment.
The importance of HHAs reporting accurate client information and care observations to the licensed supervisor is emphasized throughout the training. You will be required to perform basic nursing skills and assist medical personnel to deliver excellence client care.
