Most of the home health aide training in the District of Columbia prepares students to sit for the National Examination to become certified as a HHA.
The curriculum generally includes laboratory practice and return demonstration of all necessary skills associated with content taught during the lecture. The students must practice under the supervision of an RN instructor until all competencies have been performed correctly, as evident by passing the laboratory final examination.
A H.H.A in the District of Columbia provides basic care and health- related services to a variety of clients. Once the training requirements are complete, all aides are then required to apply for certification to the District of Columbia’s Board of Nursing. The requirements to be issued certification are as follows:
(a) Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
(b) Submit evidence of having successfully completed an approved home health aide program;
(c) Pass a Board approved certification examination;
(d) Complete a CBC; and
(e) Submit an application and application fee
The current application fee is $50.
