The Department of Human Services in Minnesota defines a home health aide as an individual who: Provides medically oriented task skills to help maintain health or to facilitate treatment of an illness or injury provided in a individuals place of residence. They are employees of home health agencies that have completed medically learning skill tasks that have been written in the plan of care for a client.
The Minnesota Home health aide visits clients in their own homes to:
- Provide assistance with administering medications
- Assist with clients ambulating and exercises
- Provide the essential ADLs
- Give Providence with hands-on personal care
The HHA in Minnesota is responsible for following the care plan that was developed by the home health agency registered nurse. The visits that home health aides provide for the client must be in the clients home.
