Illinois Restorative Nursing Assistant

A Restorative Nursing Assistant in Illinois is a certified nursing assistant (CNA) who has had additional, particular instruction in restorative nursing care. A RNA helps patients gain a better quality of life by increasing their level of strength and mobility. 

The RNA classes in Illinois provides individuals with the knowledge and skills that are needed to safely and effectively provide rehabilitative/restorative therapies under the supervision of a physical therapist or occupational therapist.

You will be assisting therapists in moving residents/patients, positioning them for specific exercises, and aiding them in the performance of those exercises. You may be assigned other tasks such as keeping the therapy area safe and uncluttered, and maintaining equipment used in the therapy progression.

The RNA training courses are designed for those seeking employment for the position of a Restorative Nursing Assistant. With this specialized training in restorative nursing care you can often find work in assisted living communities, hospital therapy departments, adult day care centers, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers and home health agencies.

Most classes will combines study as an "Occupational Rehabilitation Aide" along with the "Physical Rehabilitation Aide" course. The purpose of the curriculum is to instruct Certified Nursing Assistants to meet the required skill tasks to be able to perform simple therapy procedures that will contribute to the care and rehabilitation of the residents/patients who are sick or injured and others requiring therapy services.

Individuals will need to finish the required number of clinical experience hours at a long-term care facility or hospital with a licensed therapist instructor. Students will want to make sure the training course meets Illinois Medicare and Medicaid guidelines for the CNA or Developmental Disability Aide working with Restorative Nursing programs
