The State of Louisiana CNAs are high in demand at long-term care facilities, hospitals, hospice and in private care. The need for dependable nursing assistant care is as prevalent as ever.
Requirements to work as a CNA in Louisiana
- An active CNA certification
- A good employment record
- No derogatory record on the Criminal Background Check
- Physically fit
Salary Average for Certified Nursing Assistant in Louisiana
- Between $18,720 to $24,960
- $9.08 per hour typically (Hourly rate will increase based on experience)
Training program criteria in Louisiana
Louisiana CNA training programs must consist of at least 100 hours, in both classroom and clinical settings. Some state-approved training programs may differ when it comes to the number of hours in classroom and hands-on settings. Be sure to check differences between programs as time commitment could vary.
Applying for Reciprocity in Louisiana
If an approved CNA moves to Louisiana from their home state, they must be in good standing with the CNA registry from their home state. They will need to obtain the reciprocity form and submit all required documents and fees by mail. Contact the Louisiana Nurse Aide Registry to follow up on the request.
